After identifying an opportunity to improve our daily usage frequency, the YouNow product team started taking action. I was with researching what worked best for out direct competitors and started working on the potential user flow and experience that best suits our user base. This product proved very successful with Daily usage and New users retention numbers.

My Approach

User Engagement and Incentive Research

To create a feature that would reward and encourage daily app engagement, I began by examining user behaviors and preferences around incentives. Recognizing that active users seek both rewards and immersive interaction, I designed the "Daily Missions" to provide achievable goals with appealing rewards, fostering habitual use.

Designing with Gamification in Mind

With "pearls" as the new in-app currency, I focused on gamifying the user experience to make daily activities more engaging. My goal was to design missions that felt both rewarding and challenging, encouraging users to earn pearls that could be spent in online games. I crafted the interface to be intuitive and visually appealing, making mission objectives clear and progress tracking satisfying.

Iterative Prototyping and User Testing

Employing an iterative approach, I developed prototypes and conducted user testing to refine the mission structure and reward visibility. Feedback guided adjustments to mission difficulty, reward feedback, and visual elements, ensuring that each part of the experience was engaging and straightforward.

Seamless Integration of Reward and Currency Systems

A critical component of this project was integrating the new currency, "pearls," seamlessly within the app. I collaborated with the development team to ensure that rewards were instantly credited and accessible, making it easy for users to understand and use their pearls across various in-app games and features.

Continuous Optimization for Retention

Post-launch, I continued to monitor user feedback and engagement metrics to enhance the "Daily Missions" experience. This commitment to ongoing optimization ensures that the feature stays relevant and exciting, keeping daily users motivated and engaged.
